In Hebrews 12:22-23, the writer of Hebrews paints a glorious picture for the recipients of this God-inspired letter. In these verses, he says, "But ye are come unto Mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels. to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect..."

Who or what are these "spirits of just men made perfect" that are described as being in the "city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem?" Many assert that this phrase proves that deceased saints are today "in heaven" and enjoying the fellowship of these "innumerable angels, ...God the judge, and...Jesus, the mediator of the new covenant." Is this the case? We take a close look at this verse in it's context to try and identify what is being described here.  Click here for a PDF of this study.
